Research Studentship in Turbine Nozzle Vane Guide Cooling


This project EPSRC High School Scholarships available to all applicants but the costs are covered only at the level of the University / British EU. Therefore, foreign students must provide the difference between UK / EU and overseas student rate for the cost of the University from several other sources, such as scholarships or private funds.

-A first or second class honors degree above or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline (materials, applied mathematics, physics);
-Interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer and cooling technology;
- Experience in computing (eg Fortran, Pascal, Matlab or similar)
- Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to write in English at a standard suitable for the preparation of written reports, publications and verbal presentation of work at the level of generalists and specialists;
- Excellent record of academic achievement and / or professional
The following skills desirable but not essential:
- Experience in collaborative work with research engineer

High School Scholarships Research students will work with engineers at Oxford and Rolls-Royce to determine the operating conditions of turbine NGVs at future machines; candidates cooling technology review and propose new systems, turbine cooling system design; produce a computer model for this; design and conduct experiments testing; analyze data.
